The cord on my 2 inch faux wood blinds broke due to the plastic cylinders cracked and fell apart. Can the cord be fixed? If not can the wood blinds we used for anything?

I would try to use them as siding for a dog house, bird house, anything that needs siding. you would have to glue it on.

No, it's cheaper to replace the blind. The slats can be used for almost anything...table top, building...options are enormous

I once saw someone who painted them then glued them in a stacked fashion, to frame a odd shaped picture. I'll have to find the link.

I have some faux wood blinds and they were very expensive. When one of mine broke I rethreaded the blind. I had an unbroken blind as reference. It really wasn't that difficult just require patience.

Use the old blind to make a Roman Shade. Look on web for directions.

Yes, they can be repaired. I called first, took my blinds to a blind shop, and got a quote. They work just fine now. It's been over four years and they are great. Or you can repair them yourself; just find similar cord.

I cut them down and use them as plant markers in the garden. Write on them with a paint pen or indelible pencil. I do the same with aluminum and vinyl ones. Our acid soil eats wooden and steel.

@Carol Ann McDaniel Make a hole and tie to the stake or cage to identify your tomato and other veggie varieties, no searching in the dirt.

Like Dot, I thought of Roman Shades. I have found DIY on many Hometalk sites. You could stain them different shades and create a pattern for the top of a end table or a picture for an empty wall. I just thought of another idea, create a game board by using the similar stains, polyurithaine (sp?) to protect it's surface.

Your blind can probably be repaired. Check for a local blind cleaning and repair business and give them a call. My husband is in this business and repairs almost all types of blinds including faux woods. (Not advertising for your business as we are on the opposite coast!)

You can repair them yourself, it's not that difficult. They sell the necessary parts - the broken cylinders & the cord online if you look it up.
