We bought a house that need wood trim through out the inside which can get expensive. Is there anything we can do to make the floor boards, ceiling, window and door trim?

I've seen posts on this site of foam trim that is painted/distressed to look like wood( looks like baseboards, scrolll work, )

go to home depot or lowes they have a trim product that is fiberboard it is less expensive. Just look at the isles where they have trim boards.

You might want to keep an eye out on Craigslist for bargains. Search using terms like "molding" "moulding" "baseboards" "casing" "millwork" "mdf" "wood trim" "trim work." Also, check local area Habitat for Humanity Restores. They often have builders' overruns or salvage from home remodels. If you'll be painting the moldings, MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard" is much more reasonable than real wood, and the difference is indistinguishable when painted and mounted. Bonus: they come already primed.

If you have a Habitat for Humanity in your area, it's a great place for bargain trim and serves the community at the same time

you can buy wood if you have a planer and router. My husband planed and routed some for us years ago and it came out pretty nice after we painted them.
