Cat Grass Seeds + Spanish Moss = Inexpensive Lush Green Planter!

$3.00
Easy
I love creating all kinds of outdoor planters. So far all of them have been designed with different kinds of flowers with the occasional tall grass or green trailing plant to add some variety. But I have a new favourite and that is creating outdoor planters only planted with grasses.
I have a wooden handle basket that I thought would be great to use for my green grass planter. The items I purchased were Avena Sativa grass seeds or it is also commonly known as Cat Grass Seeds. It is usually grown for cats to eat to help their digestive systems. I don’t own a cat. I just planted the seeds to see how they would grow and I am thrilled with the results.
I placed four small plant pots that I made from spray painted milk cartons. Then I filled them with potting mix and planted a handful of seeds into each plant pot. The next thing I did was tuck green Spanish Moss in between the plant pots. Not only is it a filler but it also adds a gorgeous texture and green colour to the planter.
Then I waited for it to grow and after two weeks this is what it looked like!
For fun I gave the grass a haircut or should a say a grass cut. My planter now has a blunt but still stylish look.
This outdoor planter planted with Cat Grass seeds and embellished with Spanish Moss cost about $3.00 to make not including the planter and the smaller plant pots that I already owned. I can’t believe how easy it was to create, how quickly it grew and how low maintenance it is to maintain. When this grass starts to turn yellow and die off I’ll just plant new seeds and have a whole new planter in no time.

I love how it looks on the outdoor patio!

I have two kitties so I will have to do this for them and for some gorgeous greenery in my apt!

@Hannah V You can grow some for the kitties without the Spanish Moss and for you with the Spanish Moss! The kitties apparently can just nibble from their own planter. So cute!
