My Cuisinart coffee maker is leaving wet grounds on the underside lid

This happens everyday. And I clean it every month.
This is where the water comes out and this where the wet coffee is all over. Did anyone post something about a tube connection on the bottom? And ideas.

    Could your sprayers be clogged?

Could the coffee grounds be 'splashing' up, especially if you're making a full pot?

Mine does too and I just wipe it off. I use a permanent filter and on top of it when I make coffee I cover the cover grounds with a metal cover from an old coffee pot I used to brew coffee on top of the stove with. It helps keep the coffee grounds from spraying and blocking my coffee machine (which I haven't cleaned with vinegar in over a year).

Mine has done that. I found the top was not closing tightly and the water spray the grounds up. I now make sure to press down hard on the top.

Try running a cup of white vinegar thru it. Then fill and run 2x with plain water. My coffee maker does that when there is a clog somewhere. This method often works

I have the same problem with certain brands of coffee. The ground coffee is ground too fine and the water sprays out faster than it can soak through the grounds. Try different brands or ground your own.

Unplug your Cuisinart and put it back in storage - now get yourself an old fashioned percolator (thrift stores often have these) - the coffee you brew in this machine is FAR superior to any drip brewing method out there - flavor is richer, cleaner and fuller than that from a machine that merely drips water thru coffee grounds - coffee is hotter too and more flavorful - we have been conned by the Cuisinarts of the world into spending tons of dollars for a machine that produces an inferior product - Mom was right, yet again! bob

My cuisinart has done this several times,so what I do I just t ake it apart and spraywater through it and clean everything out real good and use it until it happens again . I have not known what was causing it . I have been saying that Cuisinart has not made coffeemakers any good for a long time also

I have a Mr Coffee machine and it makes pretty good coffee. I use it for convenience, It brews quickly and I don't have to watch it and turn off the stove when it is finished. I still have my 8 cup Wearever coffeepot from the '50's. The handle on the 4 cup Wearever was too low so it got burned from the gas flame. I purchased a real cheap small Comet coffeepot. I pour in 3 8-ounce cups of water and use 3 measuring tablespoons of cofee and a disc filter and it makes very good coffee; hotter than the electric ones.

Do you use paper filters? If you use a fine mesh basket, does it have a solid bottom? If it does, switch to a basket with a fine mesh bottom or use paper filters. I think the coffee is not draining properly from the basket.

I have a Bunn and this does happen occasionally. Either I have placed two filters together or the coffee it too fine of a ground. I use Yuban, but one time I bought the Costco brand of Yuban and it was way too fine and overflowed the basket. Once question...if you are using a mesh basket why are you using a filter?

I use the “gold” mesh filter and a paper filter. I didn’t like the oil in the coffee without the paper filter. Never had a problem until the last 2 days. Not sure what’s going on, but going to try the cleaning cycle and making sure the lid is closed tightly.

I have a Cuisinart coffee maker but this does not happen to me unless I add more/new coffee grounds without emptying out the previous grounds. Do you run a 50/50 mixture of Vinigar and H2O through your machine once a month for cleaning?

To much coffee is being used the water makes it float and you get grounds under the lid.

Make a coffee ground sandwich. put your filter in, put coffee in it, top with another filter. Keeps it from going overboard and stops the splash factor.

I think use only one or the other. I personally like just the paper filters. I've used both and prefer the paper.

I had a Bunn and even though I cleaned it often, I had problems with it either getting clogged or it would stop working. After reading about biofilms in coffee makers, I opted to go back to a percolator. I can wash the inside every day and then do my vinegar cleaning about every six weeks. I've enjoyed it and I love smelling the coffee more now.

I have the same coffeemaker and thought it was caused by the quality of paper filters I was using. I used the permanent filter that came with the unit to solve the problem. I'd also lower the amount of coffee, trying 1/3 C coffee to 8 C measure of carafe

I went on line to the company and found that my coffeemaker was being recalled do to same default. They sent me replacement parts and the problem was solved.

I have one and I keep getting moisture in the clock window and then the whole thing just shuts down. I'll go online to see if they can fix it..
  • Debbie Bledsoe Debbie Bledsoe on Jul 04, 2015
i never use the paper filters. They take the yummy coffee oil out of the brew. I use the gold filter that came with the unit. But if your coffee maker is getting water in the digital area it sounds like a seal is not closed perhaps from manufacturing.

I clean mine daily and always make sure after each pot I dry it out good. I use whole bean & if I don't dry it good it does this. Good luck. I love my cuisiart... Been using them for years. Company will send replacement parts free.
