Faux bois (meaning "false wood" in French) is a design element you've probably seen before but never spent a ton of time thinking about. It was all the rage in the early 1900s, and now it's making a comeback as a way to use the outdoors as home décor inspiration. Go beyond earth tones. In nature, tree bark is usually brown or white, but that doesn't mean you have to restrict yourself to these same colors inside of your home! Go purple, go red, go yellow – whatever color palette matches your personal style is fair game!
