Screening my porch

We live in NNY state, just 40 miles south of Canadian border, I have large porches on east and west sides of the house. My question is whether industrial strength velcro would hold hold vinyl screen to the upright posts and the soffit. I would remove the screens during winter.

  • Industrial version - for the most part yes. Real windy or super large panels could be problematic. One trick is grommets with Velcro used to help just seal edges with grommets doing the real securing

Another way would be to make frames for screening. Hang using hooks and eyes screwed to ceiling and sides, and even bottom to the floor secured. The velcro gets dirty and looses its stick to it ive ness after a while. We found the above solution works better.

I used a piece of plumbing pipe and store bought screen panels for a gazebo, and yes I used just regular velcro at the bottom. If your handy with a sewing machine I would make a pocket for a rod on the bottom and slide a piece of pipe through it and fasten it down in the corners with inverted curtain rod holders
