Garage Door Update!

I seen that Domestically Speakimg posted she redid her garage door with a gel stain.
Here is my door as I started. It was very faded and was brown a long time ago.
I followed her directions. I didn't have a power washer so I used the hose.
I got all the edges and the sides.
I got all done and Love It!

My neighbor does garage doors for his business and gave me an extra tip!

Do not get into the seams wipe out as you go. If you get in and it dries it will pull your door apart. It is put together in sections and that's what pulls apart.

I seen a lot of questions about that on her post. The seam Do Not Paint Inside.

And I did get the edges good I opened and closed as I went moving so I could get my hand inside to reach and kept moving while drying so didn't stick to anything.
It dried fast it was in the 80's when I did it.

Going to get the deco hardware and add to the door today.

Thank you Domestically Speaking! For my new old garage door!
Hardware added! I got all black but aged out a little with some white and hold or it blended in you couldn't see them.

And it's almost a year and still looks like I just did it!

I've been wanting too paint ours brown. What about painting on the inside of the sections? Does it take two coats of paint?

Love the door! What type of stain did you use? min wax makes a gel stain to paint on aluminum, is this what you used?

Please update with a pic of how your garage door looks with the new hardware. The gel stain looks wonderful. And thank you for the tip about not painting the interior of the seams so it continues to operate smoothly.

I love color on a garage door, however, had one painted dark green. If the sun shines on the door, be prepared for your garage to get extremely hot inside!

      Hi

no the sun does not shine directly on it. We do have another garage that the sun does best on and it's dark brown it get hot and garage is metal it's hot in there.
