What is the best kind of wood to use with the heat and humidity of bathrooms, and the best paint that would hold up on the wood?

I did a quick search and this lady used wood underlayment that you would use on floors. Here's her tutorial: http://www.decoradventures.com/2013/11/plank-wall-diy-tips.html. I think I would prefer a more rustic look, but its one possibility. I was thinking of doing the same thing, so I may be back to see how it went! Good luck!

I just did an entire kitchen from the granite to ceiling with wood-look tile in a reclaimed wood pattern. They are beautiful and very impressive! They are ubiquitous now and you can find them everywhere including at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. and the quality has improved over the last 10 years so they look very real. Go with a lighter shade, and ceramic, not porcelain if possible. If you want to drill for towel racks, etc. porcelain is vey hard and we went through 5 drill bits to get all my shelving up. Better with a ceramic for shelving.

Stay away from anything wood or laminate in kitchens and baths. Moisture will eventually cause warping and other problems.
