Recycled Plastic Bottle Party Favour Containers
I am revisiting a previous project using plastic cold drink bottles as party favour containers. In this project they are sprayed in vibrant colours with Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint. The last time I made these party favour containers I used a Coke bottles, but this time a friend as me to make some for her daughter's birthday and I used Sprite bottles. These plastic bottles have dimples that look fun once sprayed and are perfect for party favour containers for a child's birthday party.
So easy to make... wash out the bottle and use a pair of scissors to cut off the top of the bottle. To know how much to cut off look at the side seam of the bottle and count up 4 dimples. Don't cut below this line.
Use sharp scissors the cut down the seams - no lower than the second dimple up from the bottom - and to neaten and round off at the top. Cut the remaining sections in half so that you have four flaps in total.
To close the containers, fold over one flap and then continue folding over consecutive flaps in one direction, so that each flap overlaps the previous flap.
You will see that the flaps stay firmly closed if you cut to the right depth and close in the right order.
Next, the containers were taken outside and spray with two light coats of Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint. It's handy to put each container on a stick to make spraying all round easier.
Make sure they have plenty of time to dry before you fill and close the flaps to make colourful party favour containers.

I would be inclined to say to not suggest paint the inside. Then you have no worries putting food or candy in them. Being clear bottles the paint will show through on the inside . 😵

What kind of soda,water etc. bottles R used here? Sprite is the only bottle that I can think of that has the Dimples. Thank U !
How do you keep the flaps from wanting straighten up? Go you glue or tape the top one down?
I think some of these projects leave a sharp edge-maybe hot glue some material around the edges?
