Using Old Sweaters To Make Super Cute Pillow Covers.

I have an old sweater that I want to use to make a cozy pillow cover. I found lots of examples in blogland of cute pillow covers made out of old sweaters. Check out my blog to see my favorites, and links back to the sources. This is going to be a huge challenge for me, I do not sew!

Love this. I have also been using knitwear for storage/decorative boxes, as in my profile pic it shows a cardboard box that I have hot glue gunned a jumper/sweater to it, and added lining and a pocket from a men's shirt for side storage of usbs etc.

@JulieAnne Good for you. I really think that knitwear used as decor can add lots of warmth and add a cosy feel for the winter months.

If you knit you can easily make your own. I knit my own chunky throw in cream coloured yarn and added a pom pom to each corner. I also knit a few cushion covers. I added knitted flowers to one of them. It was fun trying out different stitches and a good easy project if anyone wants to learn to knit, but I agree that using a sweater is a much quicker way to go! If you find sweaters in fantastic good quality yarn at the thrift store you can just give them a wash and make a great pillow cover. It doesn't matter on the style of the jumper or cardigan being outdated as you are cutting it up anyway. The yarn and the colour and the stitch is what is important to get the effect you want. Just make sure you buy a big enough size to ensure that it will cover. Check out arm knitting for some fantastic funky chunky throws for the lounge or bedroom. Knits up so fast. I never tried it myself but it looks easy and looks like you paid a fortune for the throw!
