Puddling in driveway

How do we prevent and remove large water puddles in our concrete driveway? Only the top portion puddles and it is where the cars sit. It puddles every time it rains and does not drain into the yard.

You can use self leveling concrete on the spots where the water puddles. Of course you will need to wait until the water evaporates. Or you might need to build new forms around the existing drive making sure you have a slight slope so the water drains.

When we had a new driveway laid, the contractor put in what is called a channel drain, which is like a square ditch that runs parallel to the garage door, at the bottom of the driveway. This collects the water and, when we connected it to one of those plastic "hoses" , drains the water along the side of the house and down the hill. It isn't the cheapest solution, but once it is done it is done forever. If you would like pictures you can write to me at j_pole@comcast.net.

Rent a concrete saw and cut shallow groves to let water run off . You can do it with a skillsaw and diamond blades . 2 blades at one time will make groves 1/4 inch wide and easy to keep out dirt .
