Instant Beach Signs From Old Fence Boards!

I love the beach. And often wished I had a cabin on the lake.
But since I don't have exactly either in my backyard, I decided to create the theme anyway... with the help of an old broken down fence.
And the result? A fun wall treatment that can be used for hanging coats, clothes... and maybe even beach towels... sigh... :)
Here's how easy it is to make these... and pretend you're at the beach too!
Aren't all these pretty little signs adorable grouped together?! Here's how to make your own...
I am a reclaimed woodaholic so I'm always gathering up old fence boards or pallets. Fence planks are the PERFECT size for these signs!
Are you SURE your fence doesn't need replacing yet? :)
The key to making these planks look so random is to mix up the designs.
Making a picket sign is easy... simply adjust your miter saw on a 45 degree angle, and cut twice. Paint in a random way and you're ready to letter it up...
The stencils used were similar to what you see above. This makes creating old signs effortless!
Learn how to stencil HERE
Place the stencils on the boards, and go for it!
Remember to use colours of the sea for a true beach effect!
Aren't the colours of the sea so pretty on BEACH?
This is easy to do... start with one colour, then lightly fade in another shade. I like to go darker on the bottom and lighter on top.
This twig garland was created by tieing twigs with string. Tutorial link is in the blog post below.
Hang your fence planks... er, beach signs in a random way, and you'll feel like you're at the beach every day!

@Buffy haha I know what you mean! But I promise you, once you're in front of a good TV show, and once the wood is cut, it's a breeze to get through. (tv helps... LOL)

So very clever. We recently redid our lower level in an old ship motif. I will be using this idea on one wall for sure. Thanks.
