Use old doors as privacy fence

Funnygirl on Jul 07, 2015Sounds good to me.I would not allow them to come in direct contact with the ground the moisture will rot the wood.I would raise them up with bricksand the doors should be finished with either outdoor stain or outdoor paint. If you don't like the rebar appearance, plant something in front of it,and make sure they are secure so a child cannot pull them down on top of themselves or a small pet as well.Great idea!Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Jul 08, 2015I'd be concerned about stability. I'd put in 4 x 4 posts and attach the doors with hinges and raised off the ground.Helpful Reply

Jenny on Jul 12, 2015Thanks everyone for the feedback.... I had not thought about that the bottom of the doors might rot..... I was thinking I would use the metal stakes that folks use for wire fencing in the front and back of the doors to make them stand up. Perhaps if I sealed the bottomsof the door well enough with a good paint, it would delay the rotting for quite some time?Helpful Reply
