Old Window New Use

It’s becoming the popular thing to take old doors and windows and create new uses for them.
I’m afraid I too have fallen prey to the door and window obsession.
When we replaced the windows and front door in our farmhouse in Ohio, I saved a few of the windows to use for projects. I wish now that I had saved them all! To find an old window now will cost ya around $20-25.00 each. They are in high demand these days.
The old door that was removed from the house is now a desk in our office. Read about it here!
As much as I love all the ways that windows are being used, I decided I wanted something different.
Something more than for pictures, or a plaque. I wanted something more functional.
So here’s what I came up with..
A hanging shelf for my kitchen!
I started with an old window, grapevine, grape garland, brushed nickel chain and hooks!
Using my staple gun, I randomly attached the garland and grapevine on the topside around the edges.
Grab a cup of coffee and come on over to my site. I'll show you more in detail how I created this hanging window piece!

What a great idea! I'm always looking for ways to upcycle beautiful vintage windows. I'm going to do this. I have so many areas in my 140 yr old housewhere I could hang one of these. Thank you!
