My granddaughter is quickly approaching 13 and wanted to leave behind her fabulous castle bed that I made her. She wanted a room that was more "grownup" and since she into Japanese everything, we gave her room an Asian feel.
I really wanted her to have a "tea table" for her room but I wanted it to be as special. I searched for one to purchase and NOTHING was in our budget. So I started search selling lists on Facebook and found this table. It was listed as a "solid wood" table for $5. After getting the measurements I decided it was perfect and snagged it.

My husband brought it home and I discovered it was NOT solid wood. It was solid MDF. There went my idea of staining it and bringing out the beautiful wood grain.
I LOVED the bottom of the table but it was covered in veneer that was scratched and peeling off in places.

I didn't take photos but I took it all apart and sanded it down until it was just plain MDF. It also gave me a chance to clean it up and get all the bugs out of the little spot.
This is the top of the table all sanded down and protecting the floor from my tools as I work in her room!
Using leftover black paint from her bed, I painted the whole table black. Then I picked up a sample of white paint with primer and freehanded the Cherry Blossom. I added detail using leftover purple paint from her room too. And then I sealed it all with 3 coats of polycrylic. I also added wheels to the base so that she can move it around her room without scratching her floor.
The bottom with the wheels.
And here you can see how it fits in her room. I'm not finished in her room yet. I'm still working on a bench, a drafting table, a cat bed for her cat and I have to tweak her roman shade. But everything in the room has been made, designed or customized by "GMa". And She loves it!
This is her "OMG I LOVE this room" pose
She's been on summer vacation and came home to find her room looking like this, she was thrilled.

Love it! She's one lucky girl. And a cat bed? Awesome.

@Hannah V Thanks! If you look closely at the table there is a spot of purple outside of the flower. It's a paw print from her cat. :)
