Has anyone ever tried painting over concrete with chalk paint?

I am in the process of completing concrete counter tops in my bathroom and was just curious about adding some color to them.

IDK about painting... Have you looked into acid washing?

Thanks JuJu and Mimi. I just put concrete on my counters and I like them, but was just thinking about other things. I still need to stain the counter tops. I was actually thinking about maybe stenciling the edges and back splash so wondered about the chalk paint. Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.

I agree with concrete stain, great colors or combination thereof. The drawback is the work and acid stain. I know someone who stepped in a pan of it. It had to wear off of skin. It was gorgeous when finished. Why not finish a concrete stepping stone to get the look you want before tackling your countertops?

I have the counter tops completed. I am now just trying to decide if I want to stay with the raw concrete color or jazz it up abit. I thought some stenciling along the edges and backsplash might be fun. Thanks for your reply.

Once you do it you are stuck. Altho I agree with getting some color onto it why not live with what you have for awhile. It cannot be undone so make sure you have the look and procedure down pat. Maybe practice in a corner of the garage lol.

Good advice and I had decided to live with them before I do anything. The counters actually turned out pretty well. I think I was just freaked out for awhile! Thanks again.

Kathrine I love the idea of stenciling them. If you haven’t stenciled before though, try to practice first. It’s not hard but if you’re stenciling with a specific stencil just make sure it looks right before using it on the actual piece. If you haven’t stenciled before do more of a dry brushing to start by dabbing some of the paint off the brush first. I like round foam brushes for this most of the time.

You made this comment on another post about the hinges:

For me it kind of depends on my mood! But I do know that when I have taken hinges off in the past, they don't ever seem to go back on in the same way and so the doors don't close as well. I guess that bothers me more than a painted hinge.

if you number each piece even the screws as you take them off and number the area they came from..when putting them back on you will find they close the same as they always did.
