DIY Spool Clock

by Amy
Create this wood clock from an old cable spool. This project was super simple. So simple I can't wait to make another one.
We used a 36inch cable spool to create this clock. Spools can be found at electrical companies or your local home improvement store; just ask. My father in law found this spool and it was in perfect condition.
Taking the spool apart is simple. Just simply unscrew the bolts. You will be able to create two clocks with one spool.
Leave the wood as is or paint/stain for your desired finish. We stained and lightly painted the to create a soft whitewash.
We found this vintage, rustic roman numerals and thought they were perfect for the clock.
Add the clock mechanism and hands.
Make sure to measure the interior opening of the center circle so you purchase the right size shaft mechanism.
See where to purchase the clock parts and full tutorial on the blog.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this clock! Where did you find the right shaft size and clock mechanism? I'd love to make one, but your link didn't work for me.

I'm planning on making this clock which is going to be 36" in diameter and I saw the clock parts at Hobby Lobby. Hope this helps.
