How do I kill the source of flies in my house?

For the last four days my home is infested with flies. This also happened last July, every thing is clean. I know about vinegar and soap. But is there any way to kill them all and prevent this in the future.

If they are fruit flies, try making some fruit fly traps with cider vinegar, water and a drop of liquid soap. Put it in a jar with a couple of tiny holes poked in the cover (I use plastic wrap held on with a rubber band). If they are bigger flies, suck them up with your vacuum cleaner wand. Open the vacuum outside in case they are still alive. Sometimes flies just get in your house from people going in and out.

You might try putting a bug bomb in your attic. That is often the source that most people forget. It is the out of sight out of mind "room".

Would help to know what type of fly you are dealing with.

Do you have a drop ceiling anywhere? Flies like to find the highest place they can reach. The attic is a good idea to check.

Place water & pennies in a freezer bag hang at entry doors to the outside. This will keep them from coming inside. Change water out when it appears cloudy.

Whatever you do, please don't use fly strips. They will kill cats if they fall and the cat gets it on them. We lost a cat a few years ago due to the fly strips. Vet said the glue is poison to animals.

where I live, we have the same problem every July. Little tiny flies, they look like fruit flies, but are not. They actually live and breed in the pipes, we find the bulk of them in the kitchen and bathroom. Cleaning your pipes with vinegar, baking soda and boiling water every other day, and putting out a small cup of apple cider vinegar with a drop of dish soap in it, covered tightly with plastic wrap and a few holes poked in the top, kills them and fixes the problem in a week or so. Not toxic to you or any pets, and environmentally friendly.
