DIY Office Built-Ins

Office built-ins were created from DIY cabinets and book shelves. A pre-fab cabinet that was purchased at a garage sale was installed in the middle. The cabinet doors were purchased from www.cabinetnow.com, which I highly recommend!!
Cabinets were constructed from 3/4" plywood and installed into the studs on the wall. Inside each cabinet there are pre-drilled holes for adjustable shelves.
Cabinet doors were ordered from cabinetnow.com. They came unfinished and we painted them white prior to installing.
My husband created a jig to help with the installation of the door handles on the cabinets.
A counter top was installed and stained with three coats of dark walnut stain.
After the counter top was installed, vertical slats for the bookcase were pre-assembled and then installed as one unit. Once the vertical slats were secured into studs at the top of the ceiling and on each side, cleat supports were installed for the shelving.
To make the shelves more polished, 1x2" facing was installed all around the edges. We still need to put molding at the top of bookcase, but for now we are enjoying having all of our books and office supplies in one place.

This is exactly what I need in my living room, with one exception, I have a window in the middle. Everything would be made around that window. This is wonderful.

I like these projects that look hard but are not really. It is a nice addition to your room with the dark backing and the white wood.
