Homemade Green Glass Cleaner

I’ll admit, I love Windex. It makes everything sparkling and new! I especially love that Windex has an all-purpose version too. Not healthy for the home, unfortunately. Luckily, this recipe for all-natural homemade glass cleaner is easy to make and makes it easy to forget about Windex.
After all, do you know what’s in your favorite glass cleaner? It’s ok, I’ve listed in ingredients for you so you know :)

Propylene glycol

2 Hexoxyethanol

Ammonium Hydroxide

Mirapol Surf S-210

Viden EGM

Sodium C14-17 Sec-Alkyl Sulfonat

Fragrance Palette

Liquitint Sky Blue Dye
I don’t know about you, but I always keep a stash of Mirapol Surf S-210 in my cabinet! Kidding, of course. What are all these chemicals? Knowing that vinegar can be used to clean windows, it’s safe to say the above ingredients are completely unnecessary.

This recipe from Whole New Mom is far less expensive than store-bought glass cleaner, and much, much healthier for your home. Now get scrubbing!
Ingredients:

1/4 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 cups water

8-10 drops lavender essential oil, or other scent.
Directions:

Combine everything in a spray bottle. Shake well to mix, then spray onto glass surface, wiping clean. Voila!

@Patti Nicholas I do this as well, and if one of the kids gets a boo-boo I can get the hydrogen peroxide on it with out touching it...just a little spray!

For a first step on really dirty windows try equal parts water, ammonia, and vinegar. Then I follow up with the green formula. True essential oils usually don't have allergic reactions, but you can always leave it out.
