Get some wainscoting & cut to size. Can paint after or leave natural. If you have exact measurements, Lowes, Home Depot with cut for you.

I would have someone make an metal enamel top for it. Mine still has the original top, and it's so easy to keep clean ( I use it all the time). I often wonder what my grandmother would think of an electric mixer, being used on her old cupboard. :)

There are so many styles of Hoosier style cabinets out there, it would really help if you could post a picture please.

Tin offset press plates are inexpensive and very sturdy. They are still available at your local newspaper office. If you are lucky enough to have had a memorable event in your family life printed in the paper they might sell you that offset press sheet! If not, go for the recipe section and these make excellent refacing for Hoosier Cabinet work surfaces. It is most important to seal it before AND after attaching to your cabinet top with at least two coats each. I have been looking for creative way to recycle for over 40 years and I hope you find this helpful.....

@Jay, can you please share a photo of a tin offset press plate? I'm not sure what I think they are is what I'm seeing on Google image search as I'm seeing the whole printing machine.

You could rub it down and then apply another coat of paint, or maybe Strip the paint off back to raw timber and then Stain it colour of your choice, and then seal.
