DOOOOOOOOOONNNNN'T touch it, breathe on it or anything else! Just ENJOY it as it is obviously very happy with what you are doing to it. Mine lasted over 3months.

two to four months on average. However, I had one bloom in November and last till mid July one year! Whatever you are doing, keep it up....it seems very happy! It is the prettiest orchid plant I've ever seen....and I spent 29 years as a florist.

I have one and all I have on it is the stock! I'm wondering how do I get flowers?
    • Judy S Judy S on Jul 21, 2015
@Freda Levesque This was like that for several weeks, too. Don't give up on it! Keep watering and fertilizing. Maybe re-pot it with the orchid type "soil".

WOW! what in the world do you feed it?! That is gorgeous - my favorite flower for inside!
    • Judy S Judy S on Jul 21, 2015
@Maureen H Just a general purpose fertilizer every couple of months.

I had one but killed it, stick to the three ice cube rule once a week and indirect light worked best for me at first.

As others have said, keep doing whatever you are doing; you are doing it right! Phalaenopsis orchids and their kin will bloom for months if happy. Once the blooms begin to wilt and die, cut the bloom stalk back to the next viable node (where it looks like a growth could come from - just make sure the stalk is still green inside). Odds are that you will soon have new blooms in short order.

Just keep watering and fertilizing it and it will continue to grow. I love raising orchids and have 5 of them in different colors. All in bloom at different time. After all of the flowers fall of, you will be left with just a bare stem/stock. Just keep caring for it and a new stem will form and more new flower will bud out. Do not cut the old stem, until it dries out and turns brown. Also when transplanting to another pot, DO NOT bury those funny looking root looking things or cut them off. If you do, it could kill the entire plant.

I can't give YOU any advice because I can hardly keep one alive. I just wanted to tell you that THAT is the most beautiful orchid I have ever seen.

GORGEOUS ORCHID!!! I've had Phalaenopsis bloom for 8-9 months, beginning in late winter (end of Jan, Feb.) The cooler temps is what triggers them to set blooms. As long as their growing conditions remain stable; light, air, moisture.... they will keep blooming. Yay! Yours looks like it's perfectly happy!!!

I keep my orchids by being neglect. The flowers last for months. The poor plants are lucky if they get watered once a week. I've also found that mine may have a second flowering in a year if they are pot bound. They normally only flower once a year but I think it is the stressor of lack of root space that makes them flower again in an effort to prolong the species.

@Maxine Sheehan Once a week?.... Sometime I forget, and they go weeks without water...
  • Maxine Sheehan Maxine Sheehan on Jul 27, 2015
Darn I despise autocorrect, I meant benign neglect. Once a week is when I'm being good 😝
