Recently, while helping my uncle, the antique auctioneer, prepare for his "comeback auction" after 7 months of retirement (I've never met an antique dealer who truly retired - it's a lifetime addiction), I let him negotiate a price for me on a fabulous load of Canadian antique tins

vintage garden, container gardening, flowers, gardening, outdoor living, repurposing upcycling

I borrowed his coffee grinder - I stuffed it full of plants. It will be vacuumed to within an inch of its life before I return it at the end of summer.

I love this Guelph, Ontario lard tin - I love just about anything with pigs.

The Red Seal Peanut Butter tin is an American tourist, of course - not Canadian at all, but I love that it came with the original lid.

And Benjamin the Cat is neither vintage nor a container of anything except tuna. But I love him, too.

Thanks Barb. We're in a stage 3 drought in what is typically a rainforest region. So little tins make extra sense this year.
