WOW! What an awesome idea! That looks so great! :) -
Thanks Clover House, DeeDee! It's not for everyone but it was just a fairly easy project that changed the look of our kitchen (plus it was free!) -
Thank you, Clover House, DeeDee and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. -
Marty, will you lend me your husband long enough to do something like this for me?. Absolutely love it! -
Hahaha, Terri J, I would if I could! But we're celebrating 26 years on Valentine's Day and I think I'll keep him around for a few more (dozen) projects! -
But Marty, if I could just borrow his handy skills for a couple small projects after Valentines, it would make my day, week, month, year...I promise to give him right back. Happy Anniverary (a little early) to you both!!!! -
Thanks, Terri J! I think we're a little too far away for a day trip :) -
I love redoing old chandeliers....how does the heat escape? -
Also, Marty, I live in Topeka now but grew up just outside of Mount Airy, NC...love your stuff! -
@Deb Bisel Don't you miss NC? Thanks so much for the compliment! -
You could always make it a mini vacation too - we have lots to see around here, between Gettysburg and the Amish community. -
Terri J I've always wanted to come to your neck of the woods. If I could only talk my husband into a vacation that doesn't involve the same beach every year! -
Well, it is my anniversary on Valentine's Day........ -
happy anniversary -
Thanks so much! -
This is just too much! OK one of you youngsters...open up a shop selling nothing but re-purposed Mason jars! HT has featured them for just about everything! Love all of the ideas, but this one takes the cake. Since Mason jars can be used in canning...i.e., boiling...I imagine they can take the heat from a light bulb. -
Thanks Jeanette S. You are exactly right about the heat. I asked my husband the same thing. I love mason jars in each shape or form! -
I'm not contradicting the post about the jar being able to take the heat because it is boiled before canning because I've never conducted any testing but this is contained heat and it would seem it would get mighty warm and close t hot..Marty,have you used this often and how long was it on for..I would just hate for someone to make this and sell it to some one and the jar explode when they were eating or other activities under the lighting..that is a big responsibility..again these are just my thoughts.. -
Marcia S thanks for the question. We actually have a dimmer switch on the chandelier which allows us to adjust the lighting, but we have kept it on full practically all day and had no problems whatsoever. The jars are only warm to the touch, not hot. I would hope that someone selling these would take the necessary precautions and do the research to ensure their product safety. -
I just remembered....mason jars come in a light bluish green color...wouldn't those be stunning in a light? -
Jeanette S We thought about using that same color, too, but decided to stick with the clear for pure light since this is in the kitchen (where we do school and everything else!) I'd love to see it if you go that route! -
Jeanette S That would be pretty! Let me know if you make one! -
I love the chandelier. What a great idea & cheap! Love that!!!! -
Thanks Debby Boyle. It is so fun in our kitchen! -
I bet. I'm going to have my husband Dennis make one for the cazebo.
