Direction on how to turn an old dresser into a bathroom vanity

PainterNoni on Jul 24, 2015I haven't done this myself.......but sometimes the drawer is just turned into a false front. sometimes the drawer can be partially salvaged by partitioning it into 2 smaller compartments on wither side of the sink. In other words, the drawer can be pulled out, but the part just in front of the sinke has no space...while the parts on either side of the sink can still be used to put things in.Helpful Reply

Z on Jul 25, 2015Check YouTube. There are a number of videos on the process. I'm sure you'll be able to find one that fits the way you want to do yours, whether you use a vessel sink the sits on top or a standard sink.Helpful Reply

Kathy Meador Wells on Jul 25, 2015You can reduce the depth of the drawer(s) so you can save them and have some storage. PainterNoni has a good comment also.Helpful Reply

Gail on Jul 25, 2015My daughter did this to an old dresser of my Moms. The dresser had a thick glass top a couple of holes were drilled through the glass(very carefully) for the drain and the water lines. The drawer was then shortened so as to not interfere with either. If I remember that drawer is only maybe 6 inches and I think the middle drawer maybe is shorter than original but not by much if any. This was taken during the construction as evidenced by all the dust.Helpful Reply

Jeani Miller Miner on Jul 25, 2015We removed the drawer and reshaped the insides to accommodate the plumbing. It's still a useful drawer, just has a little jog in it.Helpful Reply
