A Black, White, and Vintage Master Bathroom

When we moved into our house 3 years ago, the master bathroom was a huge space with a lot of potential...but very neglected. Teal walls, stained carpet, mismatched and outdated fixtures....It took us some time, but we've finally transformed it into a space we love without spending a fortune.
The only big, expensive project we did in here was yanking out that nasty carpet and replacing it with slate tile. It was a huge job, but we love the results. Aside from that, the changes are cosmetic: new fixtures, accessories, and lots and lots of paint.
Here's the before, in all its mid 80's glory.
We knew we wanted lots of black and white in here, but we loved the idea of adding green in the form of live plants, too. Historically, keeping plants alive isn't my strong suit, but these are doing great so far!
We went with white walls and black trim except for one black accent wall where the vanity is. We tore down the old builder grade mirror and put in a gallery wall of vintage and thrifted mirrors in its place. We considered replacing the old vanity and counter top but decided it wasn't in the budget right now. We did update the old fixtures and give the cabinets a paint job and some new hardware, though.
For the finishing touches, we put in some shelves above the tub to house my vintage planter collection (and more plants!) and added a black and white gallery wall above the campaign chest that we moved in here (I've had it since my Dad gave it to me when I was a kid). Someday we'd love to do a full scale reno with a new tub and vanity and a bigger shower, but we're really pleased with this low cost but dramatic transformation for now! The mirrors just blew me away, must try that in my bath. I knew there was a reason I ended up looking at the mirrors whenever I went to Home Goods! So much better than framing the old, large mirror (which I have done before to sell a house). Thanks so much for a great idea!
