Looking for ideas on how to refinish a fold up table.

We use the table for camping and the top is peeling. It is used outdoors so I would like to refinish it so it stays nice for a long time. The table is 18" x 4'.

  • Use a laminate stickers to improve appearance of the table. I use that instead of painting since it is odorless and easy to use.

@ Since it is used outdoors for camping, I would remove the particle board top & replace it with 1/2" or 3/4" plywood, sand it, stain it, & use at least 3 coats of minwax helmsman spar urethane on it to protect it from the weather when camping.

@ & @Teresa You could also use pallet wood to redo the top to make it even more durable than plywood if you have a handy source of them. :)

I agree with Katrina. The particle board will not stand up to outdoor use. If it gets wet, it will disintegrate. Coat the new plywood underside with the protective coating before attaching it to the table so that the whole thing is waterproof.
