Pantry Panache....for Pennies!

Greetings Friends! Hope you are having a lovely weekend! Have you ever grown accustomed to an area you use daily, and then suddenly realize it has become a hot mess? Unfortunately, that pretty much summed up the state of my pantry before I gave it a touch of panache...
....and pretty it was not--yikes! Time to get busy!
Of course, everything had to be pulled out. Translation: kitchen was a train wreck for three days! Clutter has a way of creeping in but I was determined to purge and organize and my goal was to use what I already had at home. I realized the cranberry colored shelf paper was too dark for the small space and decided to use oil cloth to line the shelves. I had a 30% off coupon for the local store where I buy it. What a difference, the liner alone made! I also bought several cans of .99 white spray paint--perfect for spraying baskets. Those were the only purchases I made. Snacks, pasta and baking goods were stored in baskets, while the can goods were arranged on the Lazy Susan.
Continue to my blog and don't miss a thing!

  • ....I use a lot of those same baskets, painted white. lol. I love the use of the oilcloth, looks so pretty ! :) what a difference you made in your cabinet ! I found some cool metal bins at Marshalls in DesMoines..$7.99 each. cheap !! love those for chips, snack food, etc. :) ...and I see you have " snap pea crisps"...I love those things...! they are tasty alone, and great with certain dips and such :)!

What a darling pantry Cecilia. Perfect timing too as this weeks challenge is my pantry. It's in pretty good shape, but it's time to go through and clear out anything out dated. Seeing you post made me decide that this time I'm going to go all out and finally finish the shelves. I bought lined baskets for it during the building of our home. We didn't install the shelves until after we moved in. I was so happy to take out the free standing metal shelves and have real shelves that I didn't take the time to paint them. I bought vinyl lace trim for the edges too. Now I'm going to see if I can find a nice thick white oilcloth so I don't have to wait a week for the paint to cure!

@Cecilia, I bet it feels as good as it looks. I'll do mine in solid white to match my lace and the fact that my baskets are stained wicker and I don't want to change them. I'll be sure to share when I'm finished.
