Trellis vines

How do I best train vines on a trellis? I've never had plants like these before...

U can use velcro tape found in garden centers.

I use a soft twine and tie VERY loosely. Once the branches start curling through the lattice pieces, you can cut the string and they will stay in place.

I swear by the green velcro garden tape. Cut needed length and it can be removed and used over and over again. I have seen in Home Depot.

I've read that you can cut up panty hose in strips and tie with those. Supposedly won't damage the plant as much as other ties can.

These vines appear to have twined around the trellis very nicely. Your plant seems to be some sort of Jasmine (Star?). Those vines will climb a 15 ft tall fence. Your trellis is short so I think you might try training the vines above the trellis back down on it by just twining them around the trellis. Or you could extend your trellis up higher. It's very beautiful and you are doing it just right. :)

Thanks for great posting. Trellis vines are a perfect way to add privacy and can give an elegant beauty to your house. Adding a trellis or some other vertical structure to your garden also gives you a whole new dimension of visual interest. Putting a vine over the chain link fence can adda little pop color to your yard and can protect you and your family from unwanted guest.
