The dining room wall needs something, but anything hung there gets brushed by shoulders passing by. What to do?

Hand painted murial or wall stickers as an easier alternative?

Upcycling gave you a great idea; also stenciling is really easy. Another idea: you can "hang" prints on your wall like this: Have a picture you like enlarged to the size you want or do a tryptic (3 prints) and have framing pieces cut to go around your print/s.Have your prints done on thick card stock and use tiny picture frame nails to attach to the wall. Paint your trim pieces and then use small nails or a nail gun to attach the trim to the wall and frame your pic. Fill in the nail holes with a little caulk and touch up with your paint. This way, you will have art hanging on your wall, but it won't go anywhere when it is bumped. You can also do this with wall paper panels (glue them to the wall & add your trim); or cut a beautiful piece of fabric the size you want, attach to the wall with starch, and add your trim.
