The green is moss and the out growths are fungus or mushrooms for you shroomers...actually there are types that you can eat but please refer to the Audibon mushroom reference books before you pull out your frying pan lol. Excellent info.

The fungus is usually a sign that some part of the vine is decaying. You might want to look around for another vine. This looks like it is in poor condition and will soon be dead...sorry. But the good news is that this type of vine grows fast. Replacing it will not be so bad. Remember that when you do plant a new one, the ground will have to be replaced to remove spores from the fungus otherwise, it could affect your new vine. Good luck.

Just wondering did you try using a fungicide spray to kill the infestation?

I did not say that first of all. What I was referring to was a fungicide that is not poison.

Looks like it is dying. Something that kills a trumpet vine!!! You could market it and make millions! LOL They are very very invasive in some locations.

It looks like mushrooms. I'm not a professional so can't offer any advice. Maybe you should take your picture to your local extension office or nursery.

I think its called Lichen (liken) which is similar or in the mushroom family..or possibly also a fungus family...they commonly grow on the sides of trees in the woods, especially where its damp/moist a lot... It draws its nutrition from the host(the vine) and the moisture ... as far as edible I dont know, and Im not sure if they will do harm to the host plant...other than that I guess its a wait n see. How is the trumpet vine otherwise? Does it seem healthy?
