I would like to change the color of my tinted glaze

A friend of mine gave me a quart of Ralph Lauren Faux Technique glaze which has been tinted Fairy Wren in color. Can I change the color of this glaze by mixing it with acrylic paints? If not, what colors of base coats would go well with the Fairy Wren glaze? I have never used glaze and am scared and excited all at the same time!

If you pour it into a paint, it will change. I have no idea whether it would lighten it or darken it....mix a brush full of the paint you like, with a brush full of the glaze and see what comes up! Let us know.....

Yes. You can tint glaze with the acrylics you buy at the craft store. I did when I glazed my bathroom. Be sure to clear coat it if using it in a high humidity area.

I'd highly recommend to do so with a small amount first making sure to track the ratio of glaze to paint so you know how to mix that larger amount when you find the color you like.

Thanks everyone. So, now I know that I can tint my glaze, but I do not know what color to mix with the glaze, since it is already tinted a very light grey color. Any suggestions?

@Lisa, that completely depends on what you plan on using it on.

I have a few different projects going. I would like to use part of this glaze on a table I have that is painted a cool celery green in color. I have checked out the color wheel, but still don't know what to do with this grey glaze

@Lisa, you might want to paint a sample on a scrap piece. You might find you like the glaze as it is. I've never trying changing the color of an already tinted glaze, so playing with it in small amounts is the only way you'll be able to know for sure what you can and cannot do. Good Luck!

Thanks Becky, that's what I'm going to do. I am currently testing 3 different color combinations and waiting (impatiently), for the test boards to dry so I can make the final decision. Thanks Everyone!

@Lisa, waiting for paint to dry is so not fun! LOL
