Need ideas for my coffee table

Question

I have this coffee table (I think it is from the 70's or 80's) & I would like to repurpose it, but I need some ideas. If anyone has ideas that would be great.

Kim, depending on the size of your entry, you could repurpose this coffee table into a sitting bench, so when you come in or out you could take off boots and such. I would remove the doors and find baskets that would fit inside for storing hats and gloves, and either upholster the top or make a cushion for it. Most definitely paint a lighter color.

You can put legs on it, raise it up, put chalk paint on it, make it a rolling bar or a play area kids can use, or it would make a great island for the kitchen,

I'd take it apart paint it all then reassemble it to hang on the wall with the top of the base against the wall (hung using french cleats) with the top of the table attached to one side with a piano hinge, using magnetic catches on the other side to keep it closed. Add hooks and bars on the inside for store your jewel or at the back door for hanging keys, scarves, mittens and hats. If at the back door the front could be painted with chalkboard paint as a message center.

I would find some legs to add onto the table, then sand the table to smooth it out. Then stain it. It would be great for a family room or patio.

I also have a beautifully hand carved solid oak coffee table that has seen its better days because of plants being set on it. Damaged surface. But maybe covered with a cloth base and nice fluffy cushions set on top.

It could be a perfect kitchen island if you add height or maybe adding a closet on top of it could be useful as a coat closet,pantry,wardrobe,etc.

I would add four chubby round ball feet, paint it a cool color and add a cushion for a 'under the window'

I just saw this done. Paint it out in color of choice, Add a cushion to top and use baskets for storage underneath. Use in a bedroom, front or back entryway or where ever needed as a bench seat.. Have a Blessed day!

It looks like laminate over MDF....lots of furniture built in that era was made that way. I just painted a coffee table with the same materials construction. I cleaned it with TSP, then used DIY chalk paint (made with plaster of Paris) and used a pretty color called Lark Wing by Valspar in satin. Distressed just a little (in places where real distressing would occur) then sealed with satin warm oak stain/poly in one. It came out really pretty! Painting these types of tables is a great idea. New like in the color of your choice :-) They're certainly not 'precious' in the world of furniture so have fun with it!

I wonder if you could take the doors (and back) off, and open it up, so that you have a table with three spiral columns on each side?  Then paint it, put cushions on the top and viola! A window seat!  Or,  put long legs on it and make it a desk?

I had another thought on the coffee table, take the legs off two chairs, anchor them one facing each way to make a love seat, anchor seats to top of table, paint like colors and put wicker baskets in slot or remove doors and back if study enough for the open loo, would make a cute love seat

I would put 4 table legs from ikea and chalk paint it use it as a desk or console or home station against a wall with shelves above.

I'd add legs and make it a sideboard for a dining room. Black paint, some silver leaf and a mirror top wood totally change the look. Have fun! The show Flea Market Flip offers great ideas for remaking old furniture.
