Mod Podge or other fabric stiffener

Would anyone have suggestions for making a home version of Mod Podge Stiffy or another fabric stiffener - one that is still a little pliable, not totally stiff? Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried Elmer's glue. Just the regular school house white stuff. Paint it on in layers to get the consistency you want. It might be what you want.

1/2 Elmers Glue, 1/2 water. Mix well.

I've used starch to "wallpaper" fabric but if your looking for something more permanent (ability to wipe it down if it's dirty) I'd use the glue

How about starch from flour? Like we use to starch nurses uniform cap?

In Australia we call wood glue or "white glue, and you mix equal amounts to make your own version of Modge Podge.
