All season planter

I'm not a gardener. I just found a free old pedistal sink. I would like to use it as a seasonal planter. I need ideas for each season on what to plant inside. I figure if I only have one planter, I can care for it. I live in Pacific NW........so would like ideas for winter, spring, summer, and fall. If I am successful, maybe I will be brave enough to branch out.

Suitable indoor plants with seasonal color plants you can change out. A cute seasonal garden decor item would be a thought too.

seasonal plants are important but knowing which plants for your zone is probably more important! Will the planter have shade? If not then you will have to have sun loving plants. Also which exposure does it have? Northwest or Northeast are the best for plants that don't require or can't have alot of sun. I have in my back yard that is southern exposure spearmint, lavendar, and lemon balm. I also have a couple of ground covering plants that will keep the weeds to a minimum! With your planter you wouldn't have to worry about that, but you will need something with height, and then you would want something that would flow. Petunias are a good starter plant they are pretty hardy and they have a fairly long growing season. At least here in the midwest! Moss is pretty to put around other plants that you have already planted. Hope that I helped!

@Dobi I live near Seattle........my planter is a free antique pedistal sink......I have lots of moss, salal, ferns etc. growing on my land. I would like a pop of color......also, the roots can't be very deep due to the depth of the sink.....it's in a protected area close to my covered porch.

I would definitely start with the moss, since it is on a covered porch moss loves shade. I would then probably get some coleus for the color they don't require alot of depth, you can experiment with different types of plants that is what is so fun! color comes from so many different plants and since the planter is seasonal, you will be ok with annuals! the options are endless! Do you have any amish where you are at? if you do, visit with them they are a font of information!
