Simple Boys Room Decor

Decorating doesn't have to be an expensive or complicated endeavor! SO OFTEN I let perfection get in the way of doing ANYthing and I'm learning to just start putting one DIY foot in front of the other and go from there! My son's room took a day (MAX) to pull together and I love it. It's not super 'decorated' but it's fun and happy. I still have plans to add some window treatments and I'm sure it will continue to evolve but for the time being, it's "done."
The only painting I did in here after we moved in was to cover some large nail holes by patching and adding the pale stripes behind the map.
This was how the room looked a couple of weeks after we moved in. The walls were already blue but the rest is just our old furniture we brought in here.
This map was from the flea market and becomes an instant focal point. Putting things up on the wall is my #1 tip to make a space feel 'decorated'.
Superman is a Hobby Lobby find and the three prints were also from a flea market. If I can't find one larger piece of art for the walls, I love just grouping things with (or without!) matching frames. A gallery wall can really be anything!
Another fun flea market purchase... street signs. That lamp was red, white and blue when I got it so I sprayed it green years ago. The wooden shelves were an old pie crate and I screwed on some fun legs to make it into a bookshelf.

Headboard is Craigslist and that circus print is thrifted as well!

I love the whimsy of the map and the circus print... they don't match, but they make me happy!
This Ikea shelf helps wrangle all the books and toys and stuff. Industrial letters were flea market scores over the years. Home Depot light. Land of Nod laundry basket. Not much rhyme or reason, but again... just fun and easy.
Haven't found a spot to hang this Chinese checker board so I just leaned it up against the wall. How easy is that?!
