DIY neutral but not boring kitchen backsplash

I want to sell my house and think a tile backsplash would improve my kitchen without breaking the bank. I plan on doing it myself. Any suggestions for easy but impressive tile backsplash?

Texture wallpaper painter silver, if that would match your kitchen.

Check out all the helpful websites like Hometalk, HGTV, Hozz, and others to see what back splash suggestions they have. Or you could just leave it the clean color it is and leave it up to the buyer to put what they want on it. You might just be wasting your money up front. Subway tiles in white is always a good look, and affordable, if you install them yourself.

I agree with Chris, lots of ideas on the sights mentioned.. Depending on the countertops colors and materials, I'd pick something to go with them,, any pics...? My first choice is tile, but thats just me.. Its on my bucket list to try.. neutral but not boring is best for resale. I love the looks of the 1 in. tiles in a variety of shades. I think those would be a great way to start, if you have never done it before,, they are on 1 ft. sq. sheets, cut to fit..let us see the finished project..

I was given two rolls of heavy embossed wallpaper. I was going for an oiled bronze metal ceiling tile look. After applying the paper to my old backsplash (an awful "popcorn ceiling" effect), I applied two coats of oil based paint with a great oiled bronze look and poof, it is done. Now visitors all ask where I got the stamped metal tiles for the backsplash!
