Easy Pallet Wood Fish House Numbers

Whether you’re a fisherman, you have a cabin in the woods, you live near a lake, a pond, a stream, the ocean, you love the great outdoors…this is the project for you.
…and not just because of all the aforementioned items, these little fishies are cute, functional, easy to make, and most importantly…free. Using found driftwood and free pallet wood (or any other scrap wood you may have laying around the house) these little guys can be yours.
Start with a few pieces of pallet wood, about a foot (more or less) in length. Draw a fishy shape directly onto the wood.
With a handheld jigsaw or table top scroll saw, cut out your fishy shapes. Fins are optional.
Paint your fish any color that would match your decor. We’re not looking for realism here.
I used stencils to add numbers but you could just as easily hand paint your numbers or screw on metal numbers (but then it wouldn’t be free).
Edges were sanded and the fish were finished off with a dark wax on the sides, and the fronts with a clear wax. The wax is painted on, then buffed off with a rag.

If you like the idea but don’t need house numbers, leave the numbers off and they make great cabin decor. Could also add a child’s name for a kids room.

If you get a chance I hope you stop by, I have lots of pallet wood projects and a few more fishy ideas for you.
