From pic wood looks to be in good shape, sand, stain, seal rest hinges or new hinges to get latch to match up again and get a piece of glass cut to replace missing piece, Or you could paint however I would use that as my last option. JMO

It would make a cool Chess Board Top, with pieces displaryed , and keep games and such inside..

Would you consider using this piece outdoors?

The window can be replaced easily. And you can saw off the damaged legs and replace with some from Lowes. Then refinish

I think I would paint it white and distress it and either get another piece of glass for the one missing or remove some others or all and replace with chicken wire. the door can be removed and adjusted to fit proper.the legs can be cut off and maybe put casters on it or different feet... post pics when your done with the make over plz.

I like the idea other people have posted here. I agree with sanding the wood and staining. When it comes to staining, I like using General Finishes gel stain. Plus, new stained legs would finish the look along with a new piece of glass.

It was just a question. It depends where you want to put the cabinet. If you choose putting outside I have several ideas.Next time perhaps be more specific on your questions. Just trying to help.

I would cut off the legs, sand it, replace glass then mask off all the panes and paint the outside in white, cream or a pale gray, distress it, or not, depending on your preference and then paint the inside in a stronger colour ( no misspelling of colour I am British and that is how we spell it) You could also light it up by either wiring it for lights or using battery LEDs that stick on. I would then hang it on the wall . If you don't want to hang it leave the legs on.

What a beautiful treasure :). Great for displaying family heirlooms and trinkets. It can easily be refinished to restore its beauty. Replacing the missing glass will just take some research on your part to find a glass maker that specializes in restorations to give you an exact or so close it can fool anyone match. You could even take the door to them so they can put the glass in for you if you are unsure of doing it yourself. I see Nicole Curtis do it all the time in her restoration projects on Rehab Addict on HGTV/DIYNetwork. Good luck :)

There are several restorations of cabinets and the like on HomeTalk. I typed "old cabinet restoration" in the search box above. Perhaps one of them can inspire you to save and restore this nice cabinet. Good luck.
