8 Home Areas That You Always Forget To Clean

No matter if you clean the house on a weekly, daily or hourly basis, there still can remain lots of bacteria, dirt and dust in places you never even suspected. Rest assured, it is not your fault. We obviously forget to clean certain areas of our house simply because there is so much to clean that we would hardly seek for additional chores.
Still, next time you are about to clean your home, consider making it more detailed and include some of the places, listed below. You'd feel that the house is much cleaner thereafter.
Cleaning under the bed is one of them
1. Under the Bed

This is a classic. I believe that this is due to childhood fears of the past, when our parents frightened us that there are huge, scary monsters lying under the bed. We can observe that many people skip cleaning this area, though it is a favorite shelter for dust, debris and bacteria. Next time you clean your room, pay special attention to this spot, and to the bed headboards too.

2. Picture and Door Frames

Usually we fail to notice the accumulated dust on the door and picture frames, whether because of that rush to gо from room to room, or we find ourselves rapt by the beauty of our pictures. Give your frames a light regular dusting with a feather duster every few days to maintain their nice looks. If you clean them rarely, you might need a damp cloth to gently wipe up the larger amounts of dust.

3. Throw Pillows

We wash our bed pillows often, but we hardly remember to clean the throw pillows, decorating our couches. They give a fresh and stylish touch to the interior, but they also accumulate a lot of dust, bacteria and even dead skin. Using the upholstery attachment, thoroughly vacuum the pillows to extract what’s inside. Remove the covers and wash them periodically, following the label instructions.

4. Light Switches and Door Handles

These spots appear not to be so dirty, but in fact they are covered with a great amount of germs, transferred from our hands. Everyone touches them and thus we transmit all bacteria to each other. Avoid that with a regular wiping and disinfecting of the surfaces.

5. Cell Phones, Remote Controls, Keyboards and Tablets

As it may be a bad thing to say, but our hands tend to be oily, sweaty or dirty almost constantly. We might wash them frequently but as soon as we touch something else, they absorb dirt again. Most of these things are being touched constantly by all family members, this is why it is important to keep them sanitized as far as possible. Just make certain that you use the appropriate detergents, especially for the screens.

6. Indoor Plants

Unlike outdoor plants, which are being regularly cleaned by the wind and when it’s raining, house plants rely on us to take care for their cleanliness. Depending on the size, we might use a damp cloth or a sponge for the small ones, and a spray bottle to sprinkle the leaves of the larger ones and those with lots of tiny leaves. Plants should be cleaned every week, or biweekly.

7. Kitchen Trash Bin

Sometimes bad odor spreads around the kitchen trash can even when all the garbage is thrown away. If this is the case, seems that food remains and germs have collected on its surface.

Clean and disinfect it with a thorough scrubbing so that bad smells and soil completely disappear.

8. Toothbrush Holder

Even though we see it every morning and every night, we still forget about cleaning this thing. We touch it with wet hands and put the wet toothbrushes in it, which is a prerequisite for accumulation of limescale and bacteria. Every time you clean the sink in the bathroom, take a look of the toothbrush holder too. It really needs a washing, right?

The list of other places that we appear to ignore when cleaning the house is long. Lots of dirt and debris gather under kitchen appliances, carpets, rugs and doormats. Our curtains and upholsteries are filled with germs either, as well as the lighting globes, fans, kitchen cabinet tops and window frames. If you can think of any similar areas, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
