What Should I do with this piece?
I scored this great primitive piece. What should I do with it? Sand it and stain it? Paint it? What color? Stencil it?

If the grain is beautiful, wax, wax, wax using an old nylon stocking to buff after every layer.

I definitely would not paint it. I would take a piece of fine grain sand paper and just lightly go over the edges and surface to smooth it all out. Then, I would go over that with a few coats of tongue oil. And that will do it! I also checked with a good friend on this, who built their own cabin, desks and musical instruments, etc.
