Bare dirt -will patio stop erosion or ground cover needed?

I just had retaining wall built. Tons of bare dirt now. Need one are for play -swings etc for kids, but hoping to do patio and firepit down on lower level. My concern is erosion. The yard was graded to move water out but will just sand/gravel base with stone or pavers stop erosion? Thanks!
You can see upper level here, there are steps to the left.
Main proposed patio area.
Side by garage. Everything slopes toward the street.
Other side of yard.

I don't think so. I would use a ground cover. We have a low side and used steal edging to keep the dirt from washing next door. This has worked for my sloped yard as it is higher than next door, and this is only after a couple of year. We let grass grow rather than a ground cover. Also made a small trench to keep the dirt from building up on one end of the house.

I don't think that will be enough. Possibly add a lot of soil first. I've been dealing with this for many years

Why not try googling, "what to do with a sloaping yard," or something similar. That way, you can find photos of what to do and how they did it. Instructions are great but photos are worth a thousand words.

Can you clarify your question. Are you asking if erosion will take place above your retaining wall and erode the soil below, or are you asking, since there is dirt below will that wash away. Did the people who built your wall install a french drain?

Why not ask the contractor who did the work? They can explain how the work done functions. Also they don't want unsatisfied customers. Your satisfaction hinges on understanding what you paid for as well as how you can use your yard now. Looks like they did a nice job but check back in with them. I bet they can make it understandable and you will be confident in the long term safety of your yard and house. Go for it!

I would definitely use ground cover on the dirt above the retaining wall. If the contracter who built the wall for you, can't advise you on what to do with the dirt below the wall, I would suggest you contact a good landscaper. Ask for a free estimate for suggestions on how + what to do with that area. Then if those suggestions aren't too complicated, DIY. If not, let the landscaper do what you can't or aren't willing to do.
