Home Tour: Living Room

When we bought our house my husband said words that rang in my ear. He said, "I bet we never use this room" I took that as a decorating challenge with the goal of making this space a place my husband would use and LOVE.
Truthfully, it was a BIG room and a little awkward to decorate.
We added a wall of built ins in an effort to cozy up the room. Plus I love old books. Like, could be a book hoarder love them. This room went through multiple layouts, furniture changes, rearranging and the like before it landed her, where it has been a while.
The thing about this space it is filled with stuff. Stuff that may be to much for some, but all of it speaks to me. I don't decorate just to decorate. I do it because I love something and want to hold on to the memory or lesson it brings. I love to love my people through making their space welcoming.
I've added layers and layers of things we all love to this space. It is what makes a house a home and a room more than a room. So now, if you are ever looking for my husband, you can find him on the couch. Every day.

Mission accomplished.

You did a magnificent job on that room. It turned out like a picture in a magazine. Great job.

I agree completely. My home is the same style. Everything we love has a story and I enjoy that so much. Our friends and family do too even thought that is not their style at all!
