I have the same problem. I was told that the whole floor would have to be re done but there has got to be a better way. Hope there will be some answers

if you are putting in new carpet; seal the wood floor with a few coats of zinsser varnish based primer...I did it..sealed it for good. If you don't like that option there is a product called anti-icky poo (seriously) that has microscopic bugs in it that eat the urine and when the urine is gone and thus the food supply is exhausted, the mirco bugs die. I have used that to and it actually worked great - the stain got smaller every day and then was gone out of carpet.

@I agree Lisa. It's not always easy to do so online because one cannot hear the others tone. I was taught to first assume anothers intent is kind and for myself to always be kind also. Makes life more pleasant. There's enough angst in the world already without adding more.

you might consider restaining the boards different colors to make it blend in; there are now stains you can apply w/o sanding first. Otherwise the boards need to be replaced most of the time. We did this on the walls of our log cabin for something different in one room; it looks great.

@Jodyhoot Thank you. sounds like it would work. I am thinking a darker stain for the whole floor but I rent and don;t know what the LL will say. I did not know it was there until I removed a room size rug. You did a great job on yours. You must be a pro.
