Crayfish trouble!

We are experiencing damage to our dam due to numerous crayfish burrows. We bought a crayfish trap and caught zero crayfish. Would ice melt work without affecting the lake?

Having lived in southeast Texas on the Louisiana border - (crawfish capital!) - my late husband taught us to use bacon as bait to catch them and it worked. Try putting fatty ends of bacon in your traps, tying it securely to the bottom and sides. Just space the pieces out at least an inch or two apart so they won't all go to just one area. Hope this helps!

Get a bag of bentonite clay from your feed store. Dump that everywhere, it will make it harder for them to build boroughs if it is solid clay.

Thanks, I will try that. I have used chicken and fish parts without success.

Be from Louisiana we always used beef spleen in our traps. The crayfish are drawn to it. Just tye it to the inside bottom of the trap. The trap must be completely submerged in the water.
