Inexpensive Interior Updates

I really have my work cut out here. I would love to update my kitchen and plan on spreading this project over the winter months saving the floor for last. My plan is to sell in a couple years so inexpensive and not real difficult ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
I am thinking of painting my cabinets a medium grey and using some black glaze on them to finsh them nicely.
I also would like to install or place some sort of backsplash begins the stove and sink areas Not sure about the colors I should go with though. I would love a nice yellow with the grey cabinets. Would you think I should replace or somehow refurbish the counter tops? They are way out of style as well.
That microwave will be installed above the stove if my son can get it done today. The window is being replaced as well. Honestly I would love to change the opening to just dry wall all the way across and take out both the window and door there and replace with a slider or french doors eventually putting a nice Trek deck around the back. Prob not gonna happen tho. So slider window and new entry door?
Just another shot of the side entry to my kitchen. I've never liked this wall at all but have no idea what to do with it
So you've seen the kitchen. This floor has had it. I've I go with painted grey annuities cabinets, lite yellow walls and keep the blue counter do you think it would be too much to put a pergo style floor i with a distressed grayish wood grain? Any help would be so appreciated. I'm just not very creative and horrible with colors. Thanks so much!!

I honestly would not go to dark on the cabinets. My opion I would definately chang out the window and the door with a french style slider to give it an updated look. As for the floors laminate is definately the way to go.Houzz and pinterest has many ideas on updating. Good Luck and keep me posted.

To change the look. Clear off counters of all big items. And change cabinet knobs. Buy updated counter tops. Granite. Fake granite if moving. And change flooring . Big differences are easy. Good luck. Happy decorating

If you go dark with your cabinets, it could be very striking! Painted cabinets are all the rage right now. Be sure and paint surrounding walls white to keep your kitchen from turning into a cave. Also if you want to update even more, change out cabinet and drawer handles. If you don't want to spend money there, spray paint what you have with metallic paint for a quick fix that will look great and cost you little. You could definitely change out your countertops to high-end laminate or granite overlay. It will still be quite costly but well worth it if you will be selling your home soon. New floors will also make a big difference. The vinyl plank flooring they have now is great for kitchens and other wet areas and is easy to install yourself and comes in a variety of colors. Whatever windows you choose maybe upgrade window coverings to shades or wide-slat blinds for a more contemporary look. Good Luck!

Maybe consider a two color distressed look on cabinets,,,,,,,gray over yellow...?

I mean the yellow paint under the gray and then sanded in spots so the yellow underneath shows through...to match the other yellow in the room.

I like the idea of painting the cabinets gray and yellow would be great for a backsplash. I have seen people doing concrete on their counter tops and that would also go with your plans. A " pergo style floor i with a distressed grayish wood grain"? sounds fantastic!

Like the cabinets as is. (I have taken out the bulkheads in 2 kitchens as think they close the room too much but maybe more mess than you want.) You could replace a couple of cab doors with frosted glass to provide some interest and openness. I'd paint the frame of the window beside the door and install horizontal mini-blinds to match the existing one over the sink. The door is very heavy. Perhaps you could get one with glass. Not a big fan of backsplashes. Rather like the blue countertop as well. Might think about a terra cotta tile floor and go with a semi-Mediterranean look.

What about using a faux red brick wall panel for a back splash? With grey flooring and cabinets?
