Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Granite Transformations?

(Granite sheets are laid over your existing countertops.)

I've always see the good stuff and heard good things about them, never used them personally though. Are you planning on a kitchen reno project?

Here are a couple of positive reviews of Granite Transformations that I remember from the last few months. You can also search for Granite Transformations at the top of the page to get some more opinions from Hometalkers:

Quite honestly yes and no. The quality of their product is average. Although a granite surface with a modified polymer binder holding the granite together its beauty is based on the quality of the installing contractor.

I have seen some really nice jobs done and also some real botched ones as well. It is not the product that is at fault its the franchise that is installing the product that represents Granite ...»

    Transformations.

The cost is not that much lower then real granite, although you save as they do not tear out your old counters they go over them. They do shine however if your looking for a more expensive granite look as they offer some of these at a much better price then that of the expensive colors and patterns.

You must remember however, there are only a few edge styles available and as you move up on the expensive granite colors they tend to look cheap with the basic square or corner style available.

This product works well in bath vanity replacements.

But as I said, its all about the person that is building the tops and putting them in. Check references and a lot of them from their past clients. Ask them for a list and you choose who to call, do not rely on them to choose them for you.

I've done a number of lower cost granite tile installs over existing counters...Not my first choice...as tearing out old laminate and replacing with a ply base is not that much more $$.

This kitchen was completed with about $600 worth of tile.

Granite Transformations installs directly over the older tops. They may remove the edging which depends on the current edge detail you currently have that is being covered. So there is no price to replace the older laminate with new plywood. This is one of their selling points, not as much work as putting on a granite tile top or new traditional granite.

We are in the process of updating our kitchen. I have had granite put in about three weeks ago. It is called Golden River & we really like it. I would suggest going with the granite.
