Looking for help to identify this beautiful bush in the yard and how to take a start off of it to transplant.

    I know it as Globe Thistle. Divide the plant at base by simply digging a small section from it. Making sure to dig deep enough to get the roots. Back fill the hole left with soil. Now plant the section where you want the new plant and water till established enjoy.

    Before you divide the thistle make sure of you temperature,In my zone witch is six its recomended not to until the fall or spring.You will stand the chance of your plant going into shock.

    You got it, Globe Thistle. I divide mine in the fall and I live in Maine. They are so hardy, unique and show my Scottish background!

    I just disperse the seeds in the fall and always get more plants in the spring.
