Bought a new house and prior owner allowed stray cats in the garage, I have tried bleach and numerous pet odor eliminators. Nohing works. Any ideas will be extremely appreciated.

Vinegar is the only safe, tried and true remedy for cat odor. Dilute with a little club soda water. Saturate, dab until damp to the touch. Let it dry and re-do it if it's not completely gone. It will work. Agree with getting a spray bottle and adding a few drops of essential oil (I use lemon & peppermint) and spray lightly off and on for about a week.

Mix equal parts of water and mouth wash, spray and cover with newspaper. Let one day. You may repet. The newspaper will get the odor. If persits, sparkle baking soda all over the area, let several hours, take off the baking soda. And to finish, let a small amount of bakin soda in a plate, and change twice a month.

There is a chemical company in Texas, ChemServ that sells a product called Bacteria Alive. We have used it in our garage and dog kennels when our dog had puppies. The odor causing bacteria are eaten by the good bacteria in the product. It's completely safe to use around pets and people. Here is their contact information, followed by their URL address: 3205 Maverick Dr, Kilgore, TX 75662(903) 988-2215 www.chem-servonline.com/

Bleach might have set the odor, if it is carpet, use white vinegar, saturate the stains, drag it outside to sit in the sun, if it's on the walls or concrete, wash it down with vinegar and let it air dry. The urine from cats chrystalise with bleach and cats are drawn to the smell of bleach too but with vinegar it is supposed to disolve the chrystals in cat urine and get rid of the odor that will make them want to re mark the area.

I have had success with Hexol. I purchase it from pharmacy dept in Walmart. It is kept with Pharmacist. A quart will make several gallons and last a long time. It has enzymes that not only remove the odor of cat urine, but works to remove and freshen almost anything. It also has enzymes that prevent re-marking in the same spot. Use full strength in the garage area - spray and let sit. No rinse necessary. I use a diluted amount in laundry and for household cleaning. This stuff is great. Best of luck.
