My husband and I just finished our son's wall quotes.

I bought the decals from a vendor on Ebay, but did not want to put them directly on the wall, so we painted MDF boards white (several coats) then my son helped me "distress" them with sandpaper, brown acrylic paint and gauze. We love how it came out!

These are great. And since you didn't put the decals on the wall, you can take them with you if you move.

thanks all!! I am by no means a decorator-but I thought others might be inspired by the low cost project.

@Maggie-that was the idea. I am constantly re-arranging the rooms, so I thought having portablity would be nice. And-he will sadly outgrow them one day too soon!

Sorry, new to crafting. Love your project but can you tell me what MDF stands for, so I know what to buy? Thanks!

Medium Density Fiberboard-its much cheaper than a nicely grained plywood

Decals are an easy solution instead of hand painting on walls and cuts your decorating time in half to boot! Some of the latest decorative decals now can be peeled off without leaving any damage to walls. This is super cute and fun for kids room especially - love Dr. Seuss! Fabulous idea!

I've used my Cricut to cut stencils to do several art projects. I use painters canvas and wallpaper glue to attach tissue or crumpled paper, or trowel on drywall mud on the canvas for a really neat textured look. This entire painting was done with stencils cut from my cricut.

The matching painting. The baseball stitching is also a stencil. The cricut is an amazing machine and allows so much creativity. These were made for my Grandson.

@Ronnie....when you go to the store, you have to ask for MDF and not the full definition, otherwise they'll look at you like you're crazy. :)

I did this with Shel Silverstein poems on wooden plaques bought for 99 cents at a craft store and a paint pen- awesome idea for a kid's room!

This is just the cutest thing. I'm going to have to order that saying or either get a Cricut. I've been thinking about getting a Cricut, just trying to figure out where I would put it.
